Bringing Smiles to Richmond Families on Christmas MorningIn the affluent community of Richmond, it’s hard to imagine that many families live with the barest of necessities. According to a coalition of advocacy groups, roughly 1 in 5 children in the province live in poverty and this figure is growing.
Thanks to Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives (a collaborative initiative of Volunteer Richmond and the Richmond Community Foundation), all eligible families of the Richmond Christmas Fund receive grocery gift cards, toys and new books for their children, 17 years and younger for Christmas.
Richmond Community’s Spirit of Giving
The Richmond Christmas Fund is all about making a happier holiday for low-income Richmond residents. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of volunteers, businesses, organizations, service groups, faith groups and schools, the Richmond Christmas Fund receives monetary donations and donations of new toys and other gifts to help many needy families.
HelpingHands Campaign Supports the Community
As a way of giving back directly to the community, Joanna,Chris, JR and Terry at Richmond Tile Centre have chosen the Richmond Christmas Fund, again, as their fall charity during their HelpingHands Campaign. This year, in addition to asking customers to donate a toonie during November till mid-December, Richmond Tile Centre will also be accepting new unwrapped gifts and books under their in-store Christmas tree during their fall HelpingHands Campaign.
